About KEYS, Kathleen & Roy
KEYS is the business of Kathleen and Roy Pepper and was established
in 1993. It incorporates Ealing Yoga Study Group, founded by Kathleen
in 1984, and from which its name is derived (Kathleen's Ealing Yoga
Study Group).
Kathleen and Roy
Kathleen's professional background is in education and training
and she has three academic qualifications (Cert.Ed. 1960, Adv.Dip.Ed.
1990, M.A. (Ed) 1992). She spent 30 years in education as class
teacher, advisory teacher and deputy head-teacher before taking
early retirement. In KEYS, Kathleen is the trainer and therapist.
Roy's background was in Chemistry (B.Sc. Hons, 1958), industry
and administration. In KEYS, he deals with the less glamorous tasks,
including finance, administration and record keeping, as well as
being the voice on the phone when Kathleen is otherwise engaged.
Kathleen took up yoga for health reasons in 1965. There were few
yoga teachers in those days so she taught herself until meeting
Wilfred Clarke (founder of both the British Wheel of Yoga and FRYOG),
with whom she studied for her FRYOG Teaching Diploma. Other teachers
who have influenced her yoga work include Howard Kent (Yoga For
Health Foundation) and Swami Indarananda (Patanjali Yoga Centre).
Over the years, Kathleen's interest expanded into other therapies
and she has studied massage, aromatherapy, crystal therapy, and
zero balancing. Her principal qualifications include:

KEYS
- We are situated near the border of Ealing and Brentford and
overlook a nature reserve.
- We have a garden in which students are welcome to sit at break
times (weather permitting!)
- Our courses and therapies take place in comfortable and quiet
premises.
- Courses and classes are in small, friendly groups (usual maximum
9 students, ensuring individual attention).
- Although the course topics are serious and hard work is necessary
(particularly for those training to be yoga teachers), the classes
are not without humour and we make every attempt to make the activities
enjoyable.
Most people seem to enjoy coming to us. A few yoga students have
been coming to Kathleen's classes since before the formation of
KEYS. Most stay with us for a number of years but family and work
commitments mean that some must give up. A few stay with us for
a term and then, having done yoga, move on. Most people completing
the Yoga Teacher Training course express regret that the two years
are over. The following comments from a recent Yoga Teacher graduate
are not untypical:
"Dear Kathleen,
I can't believe that it's all over and the two years passed so quickly
- and although I have my wonderful certificate on my wall now -
it still hasn't sunk in that I am actually a yoga teacher! I have
really enjoyed having you as my mentor, teacher, spiritual guide,
friend, guru - and have learned so much from you. I am glad to have
been able to share some of your vast knowledge and understanding,
about yoga, spiritual matters, education, personal development et
al. You have supported me unconditionally through the trials and
tribulations I have experienced - and I am sure there will be more
just like me to come! You have amazing gifts and talents that you
selflessly share with others and I am more than grateful that I
was, and still am, one of them. Please extend my heartfelt thanks
to Roy, who is a wonderful person."
