Acupressure Massage for PractitionersTUTOR - KATHLEEN PEPPER This post - graduate course will fulfil the two days annual training requirement of the Massage Training Institute (M.T.I.) and other organisations. The course will take place over two weekends.
Weekend 1
Acupressure massage
Acupressure massage works with the meridians and can easily be incorporated into the massage techniques you already use. The meridians, or channels, are lines of Qi (Chi) energy running through our bodies. They form a network, which the Chinese compare to an irrigation system. This system can become clogged, blocked or depleted causing an imbalance of Qi, which can lead to ill health. Acupressure massage clears any blockages, nourishes the Qi and allows it to flow freely again, thus improving health.
By learning acupressure massage you will:
1. Learn to identify the 12 meridians used in acupressure, acupuncture and shiatsu
2. Begin to understand how the health and energy of the meridians contributes to a healthy body
3. Learn how to incorporate acupressure massage into your current practice and techniques.
Dates: Weekend 1 - 4th and 5th October 2008 - Contact Us for more information.
Weekend 2
Massaging pressure points for the relief of common ailments
Acupressure is an ancient healing art, which uses the fingers and thumbs to press points on the skin to stimulate the self-healing abilities of the body. These points are the same ones which are used in acupuncture and shiatsu. It can be incorporated into your usual massage routine as well as the meridian massage techniques taught on Part 1. Working with pressure points stimulates the subtle flow of Qi in the meridians and can be used on specific points of the body to alleviate common ailments such as headaches, colds, breathing difficulties, IBS, menstrual problems and aches and pains.
By learning to work with pressure points you will:
1. Learn to identify the major pressure points used in acupressure, acupuncture and shiatsu
2. Begin to understand how to work with these to improve the condition of common ailments and so contribute to the improved health of your clients
3. Learn how to incorporate the use of pressure points into your current practice and techniques.
