SEEING WITH THE EYE OF EAGLE
March sees the Spring Equinox, which was on the 20 th March. The sun entered Aries at 6.26 PM. Spring corresponds to the East of the Medicine Wheel in the Native American tradition. The power animal for the east is the eagle. Eagle represents the power of Great Spirit, the connection to the Creator, the Source of All That Is. Eagle reminds us that though we need to remember our connection to the earth, we can keep our vision of the world of light. Of all creatures, eagle flies the highest and is closest to Great Spirit. Eagle medicine reminds us to draw on strength and courage as we experience the highs and lows of everyday life. In our meditations we can soar with eagle above the ordinary everyday events. We can remember to feed our soul as well as our physical bodies. What do you do each day for your own enjoyment, relaxation and refreshment? We all need to do simple things, just for us, whether it is sitting in the garden, walking in the park or countryside, bathing in essential oils or listening to our favourite music. Whatever feeds your soul, do it and then remember the joy, the peace, and the relaxation you felt and radiate it out to the world around you. Share your joy with the dark places of the world and those who need joy in their lives.

Begin your meditation in the usual way, sitting comfortably on a chair or on the floor. Begin to observe your breathing for a few minutes until your mind becomes quiet and still. Imagine that you are an eagle, soaring high above the earth. Feel the warmth of the sunshine on your wings, feel the air currents supporting you. As you feel the wind, remember that the air is also the power of your breath, your power to breathe in light, health, strength, courage wisdom. It is the life force itself. Looking down upon the earth, it spreads out below you like a map. The rivers look like silver ribbons, as they make their way to the sea. The waters sparkle like jewels in the light of the sun. Even the highest mountains are below you. Eagle brings enlightenment and illumination, the goals of meditation and the gifts of eagle. It gives you permission to follow the path that your heart desires.
Allow yourself to float easily, experiencing the peace and stillness of being high up above the world. Take long breaths of pure, clear air into your lungs, filling yourself with new ideas, with qualities you need right now in your life. Continuing to breathe easily, feel and see yourself being filled with the pure white light of spirit. It quietens your thoughts and feelings and brings you new insights. Think about anything you want to change in your life. Continue to enjoy the feeling of soaring high above the earth, seeing with new eyes, the eyes of eagle. Become like the spirit of eagle and choose to fly in any direction you wish.
As you return from your flight, thank eagle for the insights you received. Finish your meditation, opening your eyes when you are ready. Write down anything you want to do with your life and decide one thing that will help you to do it, and then begin it.
