MAY MEDITATION, 2006
This meditation is inspired by the Buddhist tradition, as the full moon in May is celebrated as the Wesak moon, which is on Saturday 13 th May. For a Wesak meditation, look up the April meditation for 2005. (The full moon of Taurus was in April last year)
THE SIX PERFECTIONS
Begin your meditation in the usual way, sitting comfortably on a chair or on the floor. Begin to observe your breathing for a few minutes until your mind becomes quiet and still. Begin to visualise a being who embodies unconditional love. It could be any saint or deity that you particularly feel attached to, like God, Christ, Buddha, Kwan Yin, Mother Mary, Sai Baba, Lakshmi or similar. If you have an image or picture of them, look at it for a few minutes before closing your eyes. Begin to contemplate how much this being loves you and the whole world unconditionally. How does it feel to you? Expand this feeling in yourself. See it spreading to those you love, family and friends, people you know at work. Visualise your heart chakra as completely filled with this feeling of unconditional love until it spreads through your whole being. Your heart chakra feels like a bottomless spring of divine, unconditional love that lasts for ever. You feel this unconditional love pouring from you like an endless stream constantly supplied with love for all life. Extend that love to the places in the world that need love, visualise it completely enveloping the whole world and everybody and everything in it. All beings are worthy of love and love can change the world. You too become a compassionate being in your ability to radiate love to the whole world. Then return this unconditional love to yourself again, completing this circle of perfection.
End the meditation by bringing your hands together over your heart chakra at the centre of your chest. Thank the deity for their love and inspiration.
