MEDITATION ON GOLDEN LIGHT AND THE ANGEL OF WISDOM
JANUARY 2007

January often seems a rather dismal grey month. The sun seems reluctant to come out. It’s good to see the first spring flowers appearing in the shops. I always love to see the first daffodils in the shops, as they are a real sign of spring. My first sign of spring this year was seeing a beautiful clump of primroses in our garden at the beginning of January (see Roy’s accompanying photo) This is the first time they have ever been so early. So for our meditation this month, I was inspired by the colour yellow, which is very uplifting and cheery and also has a deeper meaning. It is the colour of spiritual wisdom. With the lack of sunshine, meditating on the colour can bring a real sense of upliftment and joy. For your meditation, use a yellow candle and yellow flowers if you can get some. If you like to use crystals to help your attunement, citrine is an appropriate one. You can hold it or have it in front of you with the candle and flowers. Citrine also symbolises joy and spiritual wisdom. It is said to bring abundance into your life and some people always have a small one in their purse or cashbox.
Begin your meditation by sitting quietly and tuning in to your breathing. To help with visualisation, fix your gaze on to the yellow objects you have prepared. Then close your eyes and attune to your quiet, slow and gentle breathing. Begin to visualise a beautiful golden yellow light. In the light, you see a beautiful angel, the angel of wisdom, wearing shades of yellow from pale to deepest gold. The angel puts a yellow cloak around you and you feel bathed in light.
In front of you is a ray, or path, of golden light and you begin to move up it as though you were on an escalator. At the top is a wonderful golden doorway. There are seven golden steps of light leading to it and you see that it is the entrance to a fine building, rather like a cathedral or university or even a library. Use your creative imagination to design the building you see.
It is a centre of wisdom and learning. Inside, you know your own Wisdom Guide is waiting for you. You are excited to meet her/him. Climb the steps and stand in front of the door. The angel is with you.
Your Wisdom Guide opens the door for you to enter. Inside is a beautiful courtyard with a fountain – the fountain of wisdom. The waters rise up into the air and the sunlight catches the water droplets, turning them into gold. Your guide gives you a glass to fill with water. You drink the water and you feel as if it cleanses you and purifies you. Then you stand in the water and it splashes all around you, refreshing you. You feel revitalised both inside and out.
Your wisdom guide and the angel of wisdom show you to a bench in the courtyard where you may sit and meditate. Use the golden light of wisdom to illuminate and enlighten any puzzling areas of your life.
When your meditation is finished, leave the courtyard through the golden door and return down the ray of light. Find yourself once again in your meditation space and conclude your meditation in the usual way.
