REMEMBERING
November 2007
At this time of the year, in November, the sun is in the sign of Scorpio and when the moon is full it is in the sign of Taurus. As the days shorten and become darker, our thoughts turn naturally to the spiritual worlds as we celebrate Halloween, All Saints and All Souls Days, and Bonfire Night. It is also the time of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light. At this time of the year, and particularly during the time of the Taurus/Scorpio full moon (24th November, this year) the veil between the two worlds, our everyday one and the world of spirit or light, can melt away and we can communicate heart to heart with our loved ones who have passed on. November is also the month when people remember those who fought in wars. On television, Remembrance Day Ceremonies are shown, and also scenes of fighting from 20th century and other recent wars. But have you ever wondered what it might be like for those who have passed into the light, or who now live in the Spirit World? What is it like if you are in the spirit world? When the two worlds become very close, we can contact our loved ones, who have passed on, through meditation. We don’t need to go to mediums. Using our gifts of creative imagination, we can communicate with all loved ones, who ever they are, who have passed into the world of light. They are always open to receive our loving thoughts about them. The twentieth century spiritual teacher, White Eagle, said, “The real purpose of the day of Remembrance is to thin the veil between the two worlds, people on earth and those in the beyond.” (White Eagle on Festivals and Celebrations, WEPT, 2003).
NANCY’S VISION
This is a true story that happened to my mother, Nancy, when my father, Stan, died in 1963. I lived far from home at the time and in those days had no phone. When he died in the middle of the night, she couldn’t contact me. When the village doctor came, he arranged for her to stay with friends in the village. She couldn’t sleep, but had a beautiful vision that sustained her during the time following his passing. She said the walls of the bedroom dissolved into light and she saw angelic beings moving up and down. She heard angelic music, unlike any she had ever heard. She heard voices saying that they were getting a celebration ready to welcome Stan home. She felt very uplifted and managed to contact me at work the next morning so I could go and be with her.
You may also find that there are ways that your loved ones know when you need help and support at difficult times. You may hear their favourite music in surprising circumstances or unusual places.
Here is a meditation you can use to meet your loved ones who have passed on. Remember that in spirit, there is no separation. Talk to your loved ones mentally and realise that imagination is a most powerful gift whereby you can create what you need.
THE GARDEN OF REMEMBRANCE
Take your usual comfortable meditation position. Breathe deeply and slowly. Visualise yourself sitting in a bright light that surrounds you like a tent or spotlight. As you breathe, you are filled with the light; it is in you and around you. Begin to imagine a beautiful garden or park. Walk along a beautiful grassy path. Your feet are bare and the grass feels soft and warm beneath them. The warm sunshine enfolds you and you feel very happy and relaxed. You come to a walled garden. The wall is built with white stones or bricks. And there is a wrought iron gate, also painted white. Open the gate and enter the walled garden. It is a beautiful garden. There are beds of roses and in the centre a fountain of water that sparkles with all the colours of the rainbow as the sunlight catches the drops of water. Because of the white walls, the atmosphere is pure and light. It is the garden of reunion and here you may visualise and meet any of your family or friends who have passed on.
In little arbours of roses there are white benches where you can sit. Find one where you would like to sit and do so. Then visualise your relative or friend who has passed on come and sit beside you. See them as the happiest and fittest you remember them. They are also youthful, as when they were in the prime of life. When we pass on into the light we regain the beauty that was ours when we were young. Talk to him or her mentally. Realise that life is eternal and there is no death, only the death of the body. You may always visualise and meet your loved ones in this beautiful garden of reunion.
When you have finished your communication, walk back through the garden, out of the white gate and back along the grassy path until you find yourself returning to your everyday self.
