Our Latest Bi-Annual News Letter - August 2004
WWW.KEYSTOLIGHT.CO.UK
Yes, finally we have our own website! I know many of our friends
were pleased when we went into the 21st Century to get email, so
getting a website seemed the next move.
Very many thanks are due to all those who helped to set it up.
First of all, to Chris Peak, of www.feelingpeaky.com,
who designed the site and to Roy for collating all the information
from our various leaflets which we had put together over the last
11 years. Thanks also to the photographers, Ben, Cordelia and Hayden,
who spent a lot of their time and endless patience taking photographs.
Also a big thank you to all the yoga students and friends who didn't
mind appearing on the website. We were particularly keen that our
yoga classes are seen to be accessible to ordinary people and did
not want pictures of models. Visitors to the site can get more information
than is possible from brochures and leaflets. For example, a client
recently described our centre as an oasis of peace and tranquillity.
The pictures on the site show how we do in fact, overlook a nature
conservation area. Our yoga studio and therapy room overlook our
newly designed garden, where students and clients can sit on a warm
day. When I work in my home office, I can sit and watch the sun
setting over the nature reserve. I watch the long grasses waving
in the wind and looking like ocean waves. This year there has been
a flock of parakeets swooping through the bushes and I can often
hear the blackbirds singing their evening song from the trees and
rooftops. Robins and bluetits also visit our garden and sometimes
we see a wren. We often watch butterflies dancing around each other
and we have just planted another buddleia to attract more. Sometimes
dragonflies visit the garden and last week I saw a blue butterfly,
now reported as being rare. (For the garden work, thanks to Phil
Clarke, of Brambles Nursery, Rickmansworth, phone/fax: 01923 779551)
The newsletters will now be available on the website, which will
save us a lot of time spent photocopying and stuffing envelopes,
also the cost of postage. For those without access to the internet,
they will still be available in the usual format, but more and more
people now seem to have access to the internet and we can reach
more people that way.
MEDITATION
Here is a very powerful healing visualisation that is used in some
of our meditation groups.
MEDITATION ON LIGHT - ATTUNING TO YOUR HIGHER SELF
In the ancient yoga tradition, breath and light are part of the
pranayama (breathing) tradition. This ancient teaching says that
there is a secret, hidden ingredient called prana contained in the
air around us and as we consciously breathe in, it fills and renews
us with energy, life and strength. It is also found in pure foods,
like fruits, grains, nuts and vegetables, especially organic and
homegrown. You may also have heard of the term Qi (chi) or ki, which
means life force energy, as does prana.
Play some soft, meditative music if you like it. The Secret Garden
(David Sun), Temple in the Forest (David Naegele) or Soul's Light
(Michael Hammer) are all suitable pieces and available from us.
Make sure that you have no interruptions by turning off your phones,
etc. If you like to burn incense or essential oils, it helps to
create a relaxed and meditative frame of mind.
Sit quietly and focus on the gentle breath at the tip of your nose.
Notice each breath as it comes and goes. When you are centred and
still, begin to imagine that you are sitting in a shaft of brilliant
sunlight. With each breath, imagine you feel rays of light surrounding
you. When you breathe in, see light entering your nostrils and filling
you with light. As you breathe in this light, visualise it coming
in through the crown chakra at the top of your head. The light begins
to cascade down your spine until it reaches the root chakra at the
base of the spine. As you breathe in again, begin to draw light
and colour up the spine - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo
and violet. As you finish, see colour and light showering down through
you and around you. Continue with this visualisation and see radiant
light filling you as water fills a crystal vase. See every atom
and cell in your whole being filled with light and colour, each
cell shining like a miniature sun.
When you feel full of light and feel it beginning to shine around
you, choose someone you know to send this light to. See them surrounded
and filled with light. Continue to radiate light to this person.
It might be someone you love, someone in need or someone who is
ill. See them changed by the light.
Then choose a situation you want to work with and do the same.
Send the light to projects you want to energise and work with. See
this project filled with light and energy, being successful. Visualise
it as you want it to be. Keep sending it light until you feel it
is complete.
When you have finished, bring your attention back to your breath.
Become aware of your body and the room around you. Breathe more
deeply and when you are ready, open your eyes. Take your time. When
you are ready, drink some water and return to your every day activities.
NEW YOGA TEACHERS' COURSE
The yoga teachers' courses continue to be popular. The next one
begins on September 26th, 2004 and there are still some places.
If you are interested in the course, please ring Kathleen for a
chat or leave your name and postal address for the brochure and
information, or visit our website. Also see www.friendsofyoga.org
WEEKLY YOGA CLASSES
TUESDAYS. This 1½ hour class meets at 7.30 p.m. beginning
on September 14th.
WEDNESDAYS. We have 2 classes, each of 1½ hours, at
6:30 and 8:00 p.m. beginning on September 15th. All these
12 week courses cost £84.
THURSDAYS. We have a 2 hour yoga and meditation class from
10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. It begins on September 16th and costs £96
for a 12 week term.
In all cases, numbers are limited to not more than 9 students, so
that they can have individual attention and support. We do not do
drop in classes for several reasons. Each course usually follows
a theme for the term and when the class is full, we do not have
room for extra people. If there are vacancies, participants may
try a class first to see if it suits them. The style of yoga taught
is classical yoga, which includes proper breathing, yoga postures,
relaxation and meditation. Please ring if you are interested in
any of these classes.
PRIVATE CLIENTS.
Kathleen continues to see clients for zero balancing, massage and
aromatherapy treatments and for personal yoga training and relaxation.
Please ring for an appointment.
ANGEL WORKSHOPS continue to be successful and are very popular
with participants at Hillingdon Adult and Continuing Education Centre
(ACEC). This year, courses were fully booked and the centre had
to run an overflow course. Our next Angel Conference is on
Sunday, 6th February 2005. Unless you were at our last one
in May this year, this is a totally new workshop. What is an Angel
Conference? Well, a conference is a meeting for discussion and learning.
When you know what you want to do and ask the angels to support
and help you, angels can co-operate with you in a positive and helpful
way as you decide on your goals and plans. For further information,
check out the website or send for a brochure.
CRYSTALS.
The next crystal healing workshop is on Sunday 28th November 2004
and will cover the use of all varieties of quartz crystals and their
healing uses. Check the website or send for a brochure.
If you are interested in grade 1 crystals for healing, feng shui
or collecting, ring for an appointment to view. We also stock books,
tapes, CDs, yoga mats, angel cards and books, incense, and Native
American smudge.
OPEN DAYS.
Once again we are holding our usual Christmas shopping open days.
This year they will be held on the weekend of 4th and 5th of December.
Do drop in to meet us, have a glass of wine or fruit juice and view
our stock for those unusual Christmas gifts.
Best wishes to you all from both of us.
Kathleen, Roy
