CONGRATULATIONS TO EALING YOGA STUDY GROUP ("KEYS")
Ealing Yoga Study Group, which is incorporated into "KEYS",
is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It began in January
1984 with four yoga students, from Kathleen's class at the White
Eagle Lodge in Kensington, who wanted to become yoga teachers. We
set up a training course for them with the Friends of Yoga Society
(FRYOG) International and have been running yoga teachers' courses
ever since. In the yoga tradition, these classes are kept small
so that student teachers can have individual support and tuition.
In ancient times, in India, yoga was studied in the home of the
teacher. Our courses take place in our home and there are not more
than nine students on any course. Yoga was never intended to be
a sport or mere physical fitness regime. It is the beginning of
a journey into knowing yourself. The yoga postures (asanas) are
one of the means to do this. Of course they do help to maintain
physical, mental and emotional fitness. In our stressful times,
yoga practice is an invaluable support system. Many people have
found their lives completely changed for the better when they start
to do yoga.
The name "KEYS" came from a comment by a friend on the
initials of Kathleen's Ealing Yoga Study Group. (During a phone
call to Kathleen, she had doodled a bunch of keys.) There is a lot
of symbolism in "KEYS" and some of it is found in our
email address and the slogan on our notepaper and advertising.
DO YOU WANT TO BE A YOGA TEACHER?
A completely new yoga teachers' course begins on January 31st 2004
and there are still some places. We continually need good yoga teachers
with good qualifications. The diploma of The Friends of Yoga Society
(FRYOG) International has been a recognized qualification since
1970. It was started to teach traditional (classical) yoga. If you
wish to train as a yoga teacher, you need to have been doing yoga
for a minimum of two years with a qualified teacher. The course
comprises 100 taught hours over two years, private study (hours
depending on the individual student) and writing 15 essays about
yoga, its philosophy, asanas, and how to teach it. If you are interested

MORE CONGRATULATIONS.
Congratulations are due to three of our trainee yoga teachers who
have now completed their final assessments for FRYOG. June Byrn
achieved a distinction for her essays and practical, Karen Holtge
and Elizabeth Ford got distinctions for their practical and are
waiting for the results of their theory work. Yoga continues to
grow in popularity. Apparently, the latest question is not "do
you do yoga?" but "what kind of yoga do you do?"
WEEKLY YOGA CLASSES
TUESDAYS. Improvers' Class This 1½ hour class meets at 7.30
p.m. The cost is £7 per lesson, payable by the half term.
It covers the basics of yoga, such as relaxation, proper breathing,
yoga exercises, positive thinking and meditation. This is an ideal
opportunity to begin yoga, and find out how it will help you, or
to return after a break.
WEDNESDAYS. We have 2 classes, each of 1½ hours, at 6:30
and 8:00 p.m. The cost is £7 per lesson, payable by the term.
Thursdays. We have a 2 hour yoga and meditation class from 10:15
a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The cost is £8 per lesson, payable by the
term.

PRIVATE CLIENTS.
Kathleen continues to see clients for zero balancing, massage and
aromatherapy treatments and for personal yoga training and relaxation.

Unlock your true inner potential through personal growth with
KEYS
MEDITATION
The meditation this time is a visualization to help us cheer up
in the dark wintry days. It brings the feeling of warmth and summer
days. Find a quiet place and turn off the phone. Light a candle
and burn some incense or essential oils, if you like them. Good
oils to burn for meditation are frankincense and lavender. You might
also like to play relaxing music. Suitable pieces are "Zen
Peace" by Aeoliah, "Secret Garden" by David Sun and
"Temple in the Forest" by David Naegele, all available
on CD from us.
Sit quietly and begin to observe your gentle, smooth breathing.
Then imagine that you are sitting in a beautiful garden. It might
be one you know or you can create it in your imagination. You find
yourself sitting on a bench surrounded by rose beds and roses climbing
up trellises.
The sun is warm and you feel totally at ease. You enjoy the feeling
of the sun's warmth on your skin. In front of you is a large grassy
area with a fountain. The water splashes into a beautiful pool with
water lilies floating on the surface. As you sit in the garden,
you can smell the perfume of the roses and watch butterflies and
insects flying around the flowers. You can see goldfish in the pool
and a frog sitting on a water lily leaf. As you breathe in you imagine
that each breath fills you with energy and strength. If you have
any aches or pains or health conditions, breathe healing light into
that place. A favourite affirmation of mine is "I am surrounded,
supported and filled with God's loving energy". Remain here
until you need to return to everyday life. Then breathe more deeply
and feel yourself sitting firmly in your chair. Imagine roots going
from your feet into the ground and close down your chakras by seeing
a cross of light in a circle of light on each one.
MEDITATION COURSE
Several people have asked Kathleen to run another meditation course.
These are on Thursday evenings for six weeks and cover the basics
of meditation. Then we meet once a month for group meditation. Please
email or phone if you would be interested. When there are enough
people we can run the course.

CRYSTALS.
We specialize in grade 1 quality especially for crystal healers
or therapists who require good crystals for their therapy practice.
We also have collector's items or unusual specimens and we travel
the country to source our supplies.
Our prices are reasonable as we believe in passing on savings to
our own clients. You will find things with us, which are not found
in the usual shops. Currently, we have some very fine crystal spheres
in different gemstones and of different sizes. Crystal spheres have
a long healing tradition. In ancient China, sunlight was directed
through them into a painful area of the body. Sunlight and moonlight
healing using spheres is very powerful. They also help to protect
the healer by providing additional protection against depletion.
When you buy spheres, make quite sure you are buying genuine gemstone
and not glass. We don't sell glass ones. We have some beautiful
clear quartz specimens with rainbows in them.
We also stock books on crystals, yoga, angels, therapies and diet;
tapes and CDs of music for meditation and relaxation; yoga mats;
angel cards; essential oils and burners; incense and Native American
smudge. You are very welcome to make an appointment to view our
stock.
ANGELS
Kathleen ran four Angel workshops last year. The next "Angel
Conference" will be on May 1st 2004, May Day. May Day is the
old Celtic Festival of Beltane and, in the ancient tradition of
the land, is the first day of summer. The full moon follows very
quickly on 4th May. This is one of the most important world festivals,
Wesak, celebrating the birth of Buddha. People all over the world
meditate at the May full moon, so the energies for an Angel Day
are best at this time.

Meanwhile Kathleen has embarked on writing an Angel book. One of
the chapters will include angel stories so, if you have one that
is personal to you that you would like to share, please write it
down and email or post it to Kathleen.
