Aromatherapy massage
Aromatherapy is massage using the essential oils from aromatic
plants and herbs, extracted from different parts such as flowers,
leaves, wood, fruits and roots. It is a very ancient healing art,
which uses plant extracts to help to bring about harmony and healing
in the body.
The use of these essential oils goes back to ancient Egypt and
China and they are also mentioned in The Bible. Hippocrates said
that the way to health was to have an aromatic bath and a scented
massage every day.
Each oil has specific uses and can be blended with others to make
a massage blend suited to the particular individual. Aromatherapy
massage is mentally and physically relaxing and benefits the different
systems of the body by oils being absorbed through the skin into
the tissues and the bloodstream. They then circulate throughout
the body. Essential oils are always blended into a suitable carrier
oil, as they are too strong to be applied on their own.
Aromatherapy is a valuable way of making time for oneself as well
as increasing the ability to enjoy life better and to prevent the
impact of stress. Massage stimulates blood and lymph circulation,
relieves aches and pains and helps to eliminate the toxins, which
can build up in the system through smoking, drinking coffee and
alcohol, and eating too many convenience foods. That is why many
people now include regular aromatherapy treatments in their health
routine.
Each aromatherapy treatment is individually prescribed for the
client and ready blended oils are never used. Only top quality oils
are provided so that clients know they are getting the best treatment.
A combination of treatments can be used which include Swedish, holistic
and acupressure massage as well as polarity therapy and these can
be combined with relaxation and visualisation techniques.
